THE WEIGHT OF BEAUTIFUL
From the Real Housewives of New Jersey star, an unfiltered memoir chronicling Jackie's harrowing eighteen-year battle with anorexia and her journey to recovery in the public eye, for readers of Unbearable Lightness by Portia de Rossi.
The Weight of Beautiful is the beautifully moving portrayal of Jackie Goldschneider's journey battling a raging eating disorder that nearly killed her to her eventual path to recovery. As a young girl, she found solace in food as a lonely child in a family of chronic yo-yo dieters, and was ruthlessly bullied for her weight as a teen. From the first toxic diet that Jackie's family physician encouraged her to follow when she was just a kid to the adult anorexia that nearly destroyed her, her story includes honest accounts of starvation tactics, recognition of how her eating disorder affected everyone around her - especially her family - and how close to death she truly came.
When her eating disorder is revealed on the hit Bravo TV show, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jackie decides to finally commit to recovery. As she manages the difficult healing process in the public eye, she also navigates marriage, the complications of pregnancy, parenting, and fame. Ultimately, becoming a reality TV star saved her life. This is Jackie's story, but within it are also the stories of millions of women just like her, striving to lead healthy, happy lives while in recovery from eating disorders.
