THE YARD (Murder Squad 1)

THE YARD (as in Scotland Yard) is a good old-fashined police procedural set in Victorian London (the year after Jack the Ripper). The story focuses on a group of Scotland Yard detectives who become known as the murder squad - really the first elite team of investigators during a time when even the idea of applying forensic science to solving crimes was brand new. The setting is authentic Conan Doyle sort of stuff filled with real historical figures and lots of interesting facts and tidbits of the time, but the writing feels fresh and modern (without being anachronistic).

Alex Grecian is the author behind the long-running "Image Comics" graphic novel series, "Proof", which was named by National Public Radio as 2009's Best Comic Book Series and Entertainment Weekly had this to say: "Built in thrills. Grecian's writing displays wit and intelligence". THE YARD is Alex's first (non-illustrated) novel.
