A debut collection which heralds the entry of an interesting new voice in American fiction. The author recently won the Plimpton Prize from the Paris review and the collection has just been selected as part of Barnes & Nobles "Discover Great New Writers" program.

Horrocks writing is forthright, but her stories still capture something mysterious and memorable: A woman on a cruise ship held by pirates writes postcards her disabled son will never read while a grandpa visiting the zoo with his daughter and her son is clearly no sweetheart.

Cailtin Horrocks lives in Michigan. Currently she is an assistant professor of writing at Grand Valley State University and a fiction editor at West Branch
