TROLLHUNTERS

A new young adult horror novel from the mind of acclaimed writer and filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro and co-writer Daniel Kraus, about monsters that move in unseen places and the resurgence of a 45-year-old mystery that threatens the seemingly sleepy city of San Bernardino, California.

What del Toro did for vampires, he now does for trolls in this new illustrated series dubbed “Double Dare You.” Filled with scary stuff, but nothing 10-13 year olds can’t handle, the books take children on adventures that ask them to confront their darkest fears. Are you sure you want to go further? Double Dare You to read on…

As Trollhunters begins, a group of boys ride bikes together. The boys ride through their safe, suburban neighborhood, across streets, through parks, past rows of stores, houses, schools, until they take a shortcut under a bridge. All of them disappear into the dark tunnel and reappear on the other side…except that one bike, riderless, comes out the other side. The friends left behind must put together the clues to release the missing boy from the tunnel. Local legend holds that the trolls kidnap boys. What fears must the boys confront to release their friend?

The boy’s friends agree to do everything they can to find out what happened to him and bring him back to this world. While juggling homework, first love and overbearing parents, the boys must secretly solve the mystery – before time runs out.

Guillermo del Toro is the award-winning director of Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Blade 2, and The Devil’s Backbone. He is the author with Chuck Hogan of The Strain, the first in a trilogy of the same name, which has been adapted for television as a series on FX.

Daniel Kraus is the award-winning author of The Monster Variations, Rotters, Scowler and the forthcoming The Death & Life of Zebulon Finch. He’s also the director of six feature films.
