TRUST ME

Claire Dyer

Faith and trust which, in the years to follow, are gradually eroded as Lucy becomes more and more suspicious that her husband, William, is the father of Della's only child. TRUST ME is a novel about the corrosiveness of doubt and how, when it's finally told, the truth can prove just how far trust can stretch.
How far can you trust those who are nearest and dearest to you? Best school friends Lucy and Della trust one another utterly although they are complete opposites. In the Sixth Form they both fall in love with charismatic and remote Head Boy, William Carey. Then, at the last school dance before they all separate and move on to the next stage in their lives, William makes a choice and surprisingly chooses quiet, musical Lucy over fashionable, extroverted Della. Years go by and Lucy, William and their two children lead a conventional suburban life with William working at his carpentry business from the shed in the garden and Lucy teaching music. Conversely, Della's home life is unstable; she flits from job to job and place to place, her choices circumscribed by her fatherless child. During this time Lucy convinces herself she still knows everything there is to know about Della and that it's friendship that matters most. But their friendship is tested because Della is keeping a secret; a secret which threatens not only the happiness of all their children, but also Lucy's faith and trust in her best friend and her husband.
