WHERE'S KARL?
Michelle Baron Ajiri A. Aki Stacey Caldwell
A fashion-forward parody crossing everyone's favorite childhood character hunt with the world's most iconic designer.
This picture book for grown-ups unexpectedly twists the beloved classic Where's Waldo?. It trades in the title character for the instantly-recognizable Karl Lagerfeld, and replaces that red striped shirt and glasses with a sleek black suit and sunnies. The fictional blogger/narrator Fleur leads readers through some of fashion's most fabulous scenes around the world: The Met Gala in New York City; Coqui Coqui beach in Tulum; Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo. Peppered throughout the chic illustrations are other instantly recognizable divas and tastemakers, from Anna Wintour to Jay-Z and everyone in between.
Illustrator Michelle Baron breathes life to this great concept that has potential to become a cult classic. Her work is stunning and it hits exactly the right notes with its sassy tone and bright, bold color. Major personalities and other fun items are hidden in every single scene. Whether or not readers are actually playing the game, they'll enjoy the eye candy.
Stacey Caldwell is the VP of Global Wholesale for American fashion designer Thakoon. She has spent the last 11 years developing the wholesale businesses of brands such as Moschino, Basso & Brooke, Sinha-Stanic, Pollini and Thakoon. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband.
Ajiri Aki began her career as a stylist's assistant in New York City working for such publications as W, Rolling Stone, Nylon, and Interview Magazine. From there she became associate men's fashion editor at DNR (WWD), senior accessories & celebrity sittings editor at Suede Magazine, and a contributor to New York Magazine. Ajiri is now a fashion video producer for fashion companies such as Neiman Marcus, Macy's, Marchesa, and Rachel Roy. She lives in Paris with her husband and daughter.
Michelle Baron graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and a few years later began working as a full-time illustrator. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband and puppy.
