YOU KNOW, SEX

Cory Silverberg Fiona Smyth

A Book About Bodies, Gender, Puberty, and Other Things

You Know, Sex is the first sex and gender education book for children age 10+ that is inclusive of lesbian and gay, trans and queer, disabled and intersex experiences and bodies. It educates about puberty in a way that works for young people of any and all gender identities, and it covers reproduction in a way that works for every kind of family.
In a bright comic-book format featuring four dynamic middle schoolers, the book is grounded in a social justice approach, centering young people's experiences of pressures and joy, risk and reward, confusion and discovery, and the importance of mental health and self-care, as well as covering the big three of puberty: hormones, reproduction, and development. The book also addresses issues of consent and boundaries and safety in our media-saturated world in an age-appropriate and approachable way.
